After working as a middle manager in industry for twenty years, I retrained as a

Hi there, I’m Karen

teacher to give back to my community. The benefit of this mix of experiences is a teacher who truly understands what is required for both academia and industry. This is the unique element that I bring to all my students.

Working in partnership with my students and their parents, my students typically gain grades two levels higher than predicted by their schools/colleges.

I am a student-led. This means that I assess what my student needs to close the attainment gap and we focus on that while also covering the other skills required for the qualification.

Tutoring English Online was originally set up to focus on teaching GCSE and A Level English Literature and Language but has diversified to include Business, KS3 English Literature and Language, and English for Work.

My main focus while working as a classroom teacher was teaching students who hadn't gained their English qualifications in year 11. I quickly gained a reputation for enabling my students from feeling they'd failed to passing. On average, 95% of my students gained their GCSE compared with a national average of 40% of resit students. My English teaching background includes teaching adults in BMW, Oxford University Colleges and Oxford University Hospitals as well as classroom teaching. I have taught Business at Level 3 (KS5) and at degree level with Oxford Brookes University.
